Rye St Antony is situated a mile out of Oxford in 12 acres of fine grounds on Headington Hill overlooking the city. The School was founded as a lay Catholic school and is run as an Educational Charitable Trust.
The Junior School is an integral part of the main school, and pupils are steadily introduced to the specialist teaching and facilities of the Senior School.
In the first three years of the Senior School, girls study English, Mathematics, Science, French, History, Geography, Religious Education, Latin/Classical Civilisation, Technology, Information Technology, Home Economics, Music, Art, Drama and Physical Education. A range of 20+ GCSE subjects is offered from which each girl chooses 9/10 subjects. Teaching in additional subjects is arranged as required.
20+ subjects are available at A Level, and AS subjects are offered according to demand. Most girls stay on to take 3 A Level subjects, subsequently going on to Higher Education.
Throughout the school girls are encouraged to develop their talents in music, art, drama and sport. Many girls also participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, 20 students achieving the Gold Award this year.
The School aims to provide an environment in which the full potential of each girl can be achieved: girls are helped to understand their strengths and weaknesses; they are encouraged to accept challenges and to learn initiative and independence; and they have many opportunities to contribute to the decision-making and activities of the School community.
